“Sherry, a dachshund cross, was rescued from Melaka Town Council pound three months ago. A vet clinic in Melaka diagnosed her with chronic kidney problem but sent her back to the caregiver without any medication, stating that she would die shortly. Took her back to Noah's Ark Sanctuary and an x-ray and ultrasound was initiated. Found a stone the size of a ping pong ball plus a thickened and inflamed bladder wall. The good news is that she went through a cystectomy this afternoon and is recovering well. A good home is what she wants for X'mas.”

“An hour after her operation and receiving a subcutaneous drip.

“A rather busy afternoon @ Noah's Ark ABC Clinic – a street puppy was brought in by a kindhearted boy. This case was referred by another clinic because the person who brought him in couldn't afford the vet fee. The student gave us RM10 as a token, that's a lot from a student. However he indicated that he will keep the pup if his parent allows. That pup had a fractured mandibular/lower jaw. His jaw was wired together to fix the fracture."

Enjoying the minced meat with liver in broth.”

Another victim of a road accident brought in by SPCA JB. With a dislocated elbow and fractured carpals. Going to stabilize him first and an x-ray tomorrow will show the actual damage.

If Noah's Ark doesn't provide such veterinary services for these deserving street animals they will eventually die a slow and painful death. Extending these public services somehow is a sure way to educate the public that there is no excuse for turning away from these helpless street animals. Don't you agree with me?

“Volunteer @ work: Shalom Tye, one of our hardcore volunteers and an ordained "Slave of Noah's Ark" (SONA) taking time off to fetch a young cat from a Malay lady who took him in after a road accident. This victim was found in front of her warong(stall). She couldn't afford to send him to a regular vet clinic and was referred to Noah's Ark. The cat is having some form of lower body injuries - an orthopedic examination and diagnostic imaging will confirm his injuries.

For a volunteer to remain satisfied and committed to their work, they have to sense that their work both means something and is recognized and appreciated.”

“Noah's Ark ABC @ Melaka is an on-going street dogs and cats sterilizing program to reduce the self-propagation of our street animals. With another hardcore volunteer Mei cleaning the cat's ears and de-fleaing them before returning them to the caregivers in Melaka. Bless you Mei.

Mission accomplished: 10 cats and 9 dogs sterilized from 1.30pm till 6pm by one vet and two assistants. The cats are back as rodent controllers without their fear of reproducing again and having to care for another litter of kittens.”

“Another Cat Spay Day in Royal Town of Muar. This is a weekly Noah’s Ark community outreach program to keep down the population of unwanted litters, organized by Muar Jargaan Warga Tua. 30 cats registered for today - another busy day @ Noah's Ark ABC Clinic Muar.”

“Puan Mariam talking to the owners @ Noah's Ark ABC Clinic Muar about the benefits of sterilization. Dumping the unwanted kittens and cats around warongs (stalls) and market areas is not a humane thing to do. This has been an ongoing program for the last six years. If you would like to have such a program in your area, please contact Puan Mariam @ hp 0176243397.”

“The last of the 32 cats that was sterilized today and now back with her happy owner. Incision length only one cm and with an intradermal stitch, no suture removal is necessary. A very rewarding day indeed. Thanks to all & a Happy New Year.”

Raymund's closing note for 2013:
“The passionate mission of Noah's Ark is to help bring about a time when there are less homeless animals on our streets. Thousands of cats and dogs are being destroyed every year. We can't be hiding behind the word "Mercy Killing". No shelter is big enough to accommodate all of them in a humane way. We can't warehouse them either. They are sentient beings not items. We need an emotional commitment to a vision and to the people who can be involved in the realization of that dream. The real secret of success is... ENTHUSIASM.

Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance - Samuel Johnson.”
