Yes, We Have A Blacklist
7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

We have a blacklist, and this is because our funds come from donations from the public and it is our duty to ensure that the money is used wisely and correctly and all for the animals. So, who is on our blacklist? Previously, when we had panel vets and we used to sponsor up to 100%: 1. Those who have quarreled with our vets. 2. Those who do not pick up their animals after a procedure. 3. Those who promised to pay us back (when they lumped food and other accessories into the bill) but do not hono...

Subsidy For Vaccination For Male Dog, Zutzai (Carman Hor’s)
7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Carman Hor is a university student. Her adopted street dog, Hambao’s, initial treatment was subsidised by us. There was another two medical claims for Hambao’s mange treatment in February recently and when she failed to acknowledge receipt of the funds, she was blacklisted. She also claimed the medical treatment in full despite knowing our 50% policy. We only paid out 50% and she was told that we do not provide full subsidy. Recently, she wrote in again for a claim for another adopte...

Subsidy For Spaying Of Female Dog, Storm (Myza Nordin’s)
7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Storm has come a long, long way ever since the time she was almost torn apart due to a fight between two mother-dogs. Here is her story from rescuer, Myza Nordin: Storm is rescued from Selayang in July, 2011. She had a bad neck injury (head almost torn apart) due to ‘tug of war’ between 2 mother dogs. She was nursed to health by me and my housemate. Her wound was sewed without anaesthatic, as she was too small for it. So, u can imagine the pain she has to go through.

Soi Dog Foundation - 03-2012
7th Mar 2012, by Soi Dog Foundation

Soi Dog's work to end the viciously cruel dog meat trade to Vietnam continues with determination. Our campaign team, working with Thai authorities, is gathering information about how the trade operates and who is responsible for the suffering. One of our team recently spoke to a human victim of the trade, Khun Ball, and heard first hand of the disappearance of her beloved companion Ngean. R = Rehome Or Return To Colony
7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Two people have written to me to discuss the disadvantages of returning spayed-neutered animals to the colony. And today, with the post about foreigners eating dogs and cats, returning animals to the colony takes a backseat even more. A reader even said in view of the street animals being eaten, perhaps they may be better off with a hoarder. To be killed and eaten OR to live under the hands of a hoarder – it all depends on what kind of hoarder we’re talking about here. It ranges fro...

Is It So Hard To Follow Rules?
7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Most of my days start off very nicely even with the barrage of emails (piled up from the night) that I have to respond to or the subsidy claim forms that had come in the day before whose reports I have to publish here (for our many donors) and claims I have to reimburse. I keep petty cash in four banks just so that I can transfer funds to the various rescuers (to give them the privilege of using their own bank account) and also so that AnimalCare does not have to pay the intergiro bank transfer ...

CHRISI's BLOSSOMED INTO A BEAUTIFUL GIRL!.... Little Chrisi arrived at Soi dog when she was just 6 months old, suffering malnutrition & mange. She'd been found on the streets by some Australian tourists. She charmed us all on arrival with her wrinkly little face & sweet personality. She was shy, yet very eager for human company & used to scoot along the ground 7 curl up at our feet. Chrisi's now 15 months old, having spent the last 10 months at the shelter. She's blossomed into a beautiful gir...

An After-Dinner Guest…
7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

This morning, as I was about to leave for work, I suddenly noticed a fairly large animal (not sure if it was a dog or a cat) walking past my Bunny-Grille. I quickly took a peek and guess who it was?  Yay! It was Mr G! He must have come in from the front windows (or from upstairs, I’m not sure) and he seemed a bit loss. Actually, I think he was a little embarrassed that he had come into my house without a proper invitation because he was actually trying very hard to get out. I didn’...

Oh Gosh…is This Why Stray Dogs And Cats Are Disappearing?
7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

From one of our readers: Had a rather disturbing or interesting conversation with a businessman friend from Port Klang. He brought up that his friend who own businesses at the port lost his 2 German Shepard and later discovered after much persuasions that his workers from a foreign country had consumed his dogs after making friends with his dogs after several months. The more disturbing fact is that one my friend’s relative is a recruiter of foreign workers from the dog/cat eating country....
