Run, Shrews, Run!!
2nd May 2014, by AnimalCare

Every time any other animal comes into Bunny’s Place, I will go into panic mode. Just the other night, a grasshopper came in and Tabs caught the poor little guy. I had to hold Tabs by the scruff of her neck and finally managed to get her to release the grasshopper. Tiger, Tabs and Cleo were going after the little thing, but luckily Mr Grasshopper managed to escape. Then the next day, a small yellow bird flew into the pantry and although the bird was on the ledge, I saw Cleo leap up and cau...

Zurik Attacks Rosie And Someone Comes To Her Rescue!
2nd May 2014, by AnimalCare

It all happened too fast. I was sewing and Mr Zurik was sitting on the table. Suddenly, he jumped off and there was a loud war cry in the living room. I looked and Mr Zurik was chasing Rosie all over the living room. Rosie was really scared and let out a desperate appeal for help. Who came to Rosie’s rescue? Not Daffodil, but….Heidi! Yes, Heidi dashed forward and confronted Mr Zurik. Of course I was also yelling for them to stop so Mr Zurik stopped in his tracks and hid under the cha...

Tiger Day 57
2nd May 2014, by AnimalCare

I think we should be able to start our countdown really soon! The fur has completely covered the last sore on the left front paw, but I can still feel a small crust. The sores on the left hind leg are all very faint now, covered by fur. Same with the single sore on the right hind leg. I think we should be able to start our countdown tomorrow! Meanwhile… Bunny wanted to pick a fight with Tiger this morning, but I managed to break up the escalating anger (on Bunny’s part). After an...

Tiger Day 56
1st May 2014, by AnimalCare

Tiger loves sitting on the grass and the soil. I guess this is also partly how he contracted the sporo fungi. And he also loves the Clubhouse chairs. He may have accidentally poked himself on the plastic strands. But the sores are getting lighter every day, so this is good. The other sores (non-sporo) on both sides of the hips are totally gone now. We were initially worried his bite sores might become open wounds and the sporo could get into these sores, but thanks to the daily dabbing of Pa...

An “unprecedented” Event Inside Pole’s Condo
1st May 2014, by AnimalCare

The lower platform of Pole’s condo is rusted beyond salvation for sometime now, and today, I decided to get rid of it (no amount of painting could possibly salvage it at the rate Indy sprays on it a few times daily), so I took it away. But Pole thought something was “missing” in her condo and appeared to be very disturbed the whole day, refusing to go in. She even did her Dory-stunts. So I took one of Timmy’s platforms and replaced it in Pole’s condo and put my old ...

George & Michelle in Shah Alam http://www.petfinder.my/pets/56217 You may have misread them as George Michael, it's normal, George and Michelle have the looks to match! They have cute voices too! They may not sing as well as Beardy, but together they make quite an awesome ensemble... Until you get them their chow. George & Michelle both love wearing socks wherever they go. Together they are more adorable than George Michael. And hairier than him too. http://www.petfinder.my/pets/56217

A Dog’s Last Will And Testament

Mrs Wong shared this. It’s so touching, yet so true. For those of us who have (or had) dogs, we will definitely attest to this. Dogs are SO loyal; they live to make us happy.

The 5 Senses: Cats Vs Humans
1st May 2014, by AnimalCare

Cats win hands down! http://lovemeow.com/2009/10/5-senses-cats-vs -humans/ Hearing: Cats can hear 100,000 hertz as oppose to their canine counterpart that is receptive to a range from 35,000 to 40,000 hertz. Compare to cats, humans are totally out of their league with a paltry 20,000 hertz, trailing far behind. Smell: Their nose is extremely sensitive to scents because there are approximately 200 million odor-sensitive cells in the nostrils which make cats an adept sniffer. With only 5 million...

14 BARF Verdicts
1st May 2014, by AnimalCare

All the cats seemed to know that there’s going to be something new today. So, by 3pm, everyone was already eagerly waiting for dinner. Bunny insisted we would all have an early dinner today. Ok, ok…. You cannot fool a cat. It’s either they smelled something OR they totally read your mind. I am inclined to think it’s the latter as the BARF was tightly sealed while being thawed. But then again, a cats’ sense of smell is probably many times more sensitive than ours! (I...

Maneki Writes…from Phnom Penh!
1st May 2014, by AnimalCare

Maneki Neko and Crumpet Hitam no longer reside in Malaysia now, they are in Phnom Penh and I had a good laugh when Maneki sent me this photo this morning: I thought of you — or more specifically, some of your cats — as I walked to Khmer class the other day and spotted this lorry parked outside a shop. I wondered for just a moment if Cow, Indy and Bunny had somehow managed to establish a transport company in Cambodia! Oh my goodness!! I can imagine how exciting it would have been if ...

A Primal Treat…from Aunty Joy (and BARF For Dinner)!
1st May 2014, by AnimalCare

Joy dropped in this morning to visit. She was on her way to babysit a few cats and had brought along some Primal nuggets. Vincent was the first to detect the can of delectable treat in her bag and ransacked it. So Vincent had a treat…. Then, the rest also asked for some. Tabs and Cow waited to be served, but Indy helped himself to a whole nugget by putting his head into the can! This was surprising as Indy normally does NOT eat Primal nuggets. He says it isn’t real “raw food&...

Daffodil And Rosie Protect The Porch From…another Visitor
1st May 2014, by AnimalCare

I missed it all. Which is good… It happened late last night after I had gone to bed. My husband had opened the front door to put Heidi out (she’s back to trying to scale the green netting to go to the roof, so we have to put her outside at night now, for her own safety so that she will be grounded and not on the roof). Then, he saw it…. Daffodil and Rosie were surrounding a snake in the porch. It appeared to be the same species as the previous ones (the “wolf snake”...

If your going vegan and buying cruelty free product plans doesn't seem to always stick, here is one thing we highly recommend being pretty confident that you can keep! There are roads everywhere in Singapore and while we travel on wheels for transport, the wildlife, the strays and lost animals do not have the luxury of such machines!!! However they do still need to cross the road from time to time. Let us be more mindful and share this awareness. BATS! - Brakes, Alert, Tolerance, Slow down =...
