A 5-year-old peacock named Blue was rescued by firefighters near Chicago, Illinois after he took flight from his heated enclosure and landed in a nearby pine tree.
The West Dundee Fire Department brought in a 100 foot ladder and Assistant Zoo Manager Kristin Wuestenfeld ascended the tree with them in the basket atop the ladder. She carefully worked to warm and release Blue's feet which had frozen to the branch in the -12 stinging cold.

Adoption Spotlight: King (right) and Kong (left).
These two lovely 1.5-year-old boys hang out together in our shelter and enjoy each other's company. It is best for them to go to the same family. Guinea pigs are social creatures that do better with company, but should be kept in same-gender pairs to avoid breeding and unwanted litters. Are you ready to take good care of them for the next 7 years?
Also, show some love to the other equally adorable and lovable animals waiting in our shelter for ...

Adopted Puppy Saves New Owners From Gas Leak 19th Mar 2014, by PetFinder.my
It's easy to see why Tim and Jill McLarty chose to adopt Hunter: he's a sweet, calm and curious puppy. They didn't know, however, that he would end up saving their lives.
The McLartys adopted the Husky mix, now 3 months old, from a Michigan Humane Society off-site adoption center in Sterling Heights, Mich. last month.
"I looked right at him and was like 'ah, look at the face' -- just fell in love with him," Tim McLarty said in the video above, created by MHS. "That was it, we were hooked. He w...

These two babies came to us just last week, found without their mother around the busy Orchard area. Fortunately for us, our great fosterers stepped up to the challenge and we quickly found a loving foster home for these lovely kittens. They'll need plenty of care and will test our fosterer's patience for the next month or so! But it'll all be worth it when they eventually find good, forever homes.
Want to find out more about our fostering program and how you can help us save more lives? Visit ...

Tiger Day 13 – Sunbathing At The Clubhouse! 19th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
For two nights now, Tiger goes into his condo at about 9.30pm all by himself. And we don’t have to close the door until we go to sleep upstairs. He goes up to the highest platform and will not come down until the next morning when he starts calling us at 6.30am.
Hmm…good sleeping habits, I must say.
And he loves sitting on top of the water dispenser.
Yes, we are under the 2-day water rationing exercise, but we are managing well with enough storage for drinking and washing.
Happy T...
