Lilian Tong’s Kitty, “Girl”, Is Doing Well! 26th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
From Lilian:
Good morning Dr. Chan!
Sorry for the late reply. It was a longggg day yesterday! After kitty’s checkup I went around town searching for a cage, hot water bottle, litter box.
After getting the cage, the litter-box and all her stuff, before I could set everything up, I needed to clean the apartment with clorox just in case the kitty left any fleas (because she was playing around on my floor mat/carpet/old clothes), upon the vet’s advise. I made sure I mopped o...

Eye Injuries In Pets Are True Emergencies!!! 26th Feb 2012, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
It has still been very steady at work which is great for a change. I have had a very interesting case load from routine general anaesthetics and dentals to working up a parrot with a non-weightbearing lameness to a behavioural consultation dealing with inter-dog aggression within the same household. Ah my line of work definitely never gets boring.
If anything, my poor brain cells are usually swamped with high energy demands and threatened with information overload.
When my brains ...

Zippy News! 25th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
I’ll let the photos tell the story….
Tabs also started putting out her paw to “feel” for the latch (just as Pole did yesterday). This little girl learns fast!
I do zips. I don’t need to undo latches.
This morning, Cleo zipped out and ran upstairs. I didn’t know why. Then, I found out – you know how in the old house, Cleo was my husband’s alarm clock? She would wake him up every single day? Well, she just wanted to wake him up again. Is that...

Let’s Talk About Food Again, Shall We? 25th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
So, we’ve been talking a lot of the benefits of raw food and home-cooked for our animals, but granted, some of us cannot home-cook, while some of our pets refuse to take home-cooked and what more, raw, especially after they have been on kibble or wetfood for years.
I’d like to adopt the moderate stand, and also to “listen” to what our pets want. Animals, believe it or not, may not be able to read the ingredients list, but sometimes, they actually KNOW what is good for the...

Hermione Is Adopted!! (Chen Chen’s) 25th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
From Chen:
Hi Kah Yein,
Affinity sure is strange. After I posted Hermione’s profile on Petfinder, my inbox was flooded with requests for her. This is a very nice welcome after being abandoned. Anyway, at the end, she went to a family today that has another kitten that she can play with and grow up together. It’s a loving family with lots of laughter and the family takes the extra care to provide the best for their cats – stay indoors, quality food, lots of toys, lots of play an...

Lilian Tong’s Kitty Given A Clean Bill Of Health At The Vet’s 25th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
From Lilian:
Hi Dr C!
Yep, I was out and about early in the morning and head to the vet’s, where I was greeted by a kind and friendly vet and his crew. He did a check up on kitty, was gentle and really friendly! She was administered with a deworming medication and sprayed with Frontline after the vet said she looked healthy; no apparent fleas (Frontline would help to eliminate the infestation of eggs, if any), no skin diseases and has quite a meow! He also gave me a bottle of L-Lysine to h...

Litter Tales At Bunny’s Place 25th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
So, I’ve been experimenting with Cat’s Pride and Breeder Celect (paper-litter) for a week now, besides still using Ever Clean.
Here’s the verdict:
1. Tabs took to Cat’s Pride instantly, so I suspect that’s the cat litter her former home must have used. But she only pees in it, not poo. For poo, she still uses the mixed Ever Clean and paper-litter.
2. I have mixed the paper-litter in to every one of my Ever Clean litter boxes now. They all use it. I’m adding ...

“Can See” For Bobby! 25th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Finally, the Can See eyedrops arrived yesterday morning and I was thrilled to bits!
http://wisechoicemedicine.net/store/informat ion.php?info_id=11
http://www.can-c.net/success.ph p (testimonies)
It is an eyedrop to address the problem of cataracts, and it’s meant for humans but pet owners have used it successfully in the treatment of cataracts in dogs, too. If only I had known about it earlier before Bobby became so blind….but never mind, it’s never too late to try.

More Jailbreak And Zippy Attempts 25th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Ever since the fool-proof maximum security cat-grille went up, there had been NO jailbreaks so far, but there were many zippy attempts by Cleo (all successful) and Tabs (quite successful).
Tabs is actually incredibly smart. She has perfected the skill of hiding against the wooden door, pressing her body onto the door so that you almost cannot see her unless you take note of it. Then, the moment you open the grille, ZIP!! she’s out!
Indy is doing it the old-fas...

I ’ve just enquired at the clinic and Boy Boy’s double eye-removal surgery was successfully done yesterday. He is up and about now, and ready to go home!
The clinic is contacting the rescuer and her family to take Boy Boy home.

We wish Boy Boy a good life. Never mind if you cannot see, you can still touch, sm...

The kitten ate today and is feisty!
Updates from Lilian:
As for the kitty, SHE ATE TODAY! She started to mew earlier this morning and it sounded a little more urgent, unlike the mews she gave last night. As I didn’t have any chicken at home, I gave her the wetfood I bought last night, What a (small) relieve! She’s exploring the apartment like a boss as we speak Thanks Dr. Chan for the i...
