More Updates On The Baby Alligator/crocodile
27th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/01/26/the-poor- baby-alligatorcrocodile/ Thanks to Nandhini’s unrelenting spirit in saving this poor baby, Surin (Nandhini’s boyfriend) sent the photo of this alligator to his friend who in turn sent it to the Director himself, a Dr Siva, who has asked their enforcement team to look into this matter. Apparently, even if the owner has a permit, he should keep the alligator in a pond and not an aquarium. But in the first place, if we are so bold to as...

We Need More Votes, Please! (Sunsuper Dreams)
27th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Dear Friends, We only have FOUR more days to go in this contest. The Kenyan Dream chalked up more than 1000 votes in the last two days to emerge in the No.2 position now. They look set to topple us by today. While we cannot question their manner of voting (garnering 2-3 votes per minute, around the clock!) or the fact that they were once removed and again, had 2800 votes removed (illegal votes), we still hope we can get more votes, if only to show that truth and justice will prevail, and that we...

URGENT: Kitten (in Need Of Medical Treatment) For Adoption (Inez Sue’s)
27th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Inez Sue is a student who works part-time to support herself. She rescued a kitten who might need medical treatment, but she is already looking after 3 kittens now, so she would appreciate if someone could adopt this latest kitten. From Inez: Just morning we found a kitten meowing very loudly around our unit, and I found it (gender unknown) at the staircase. It must’ve lost it’s mother as I’ve been told that it’s been meowing since yesterday or so. I think it has flu a...

People…people Who Need People…
26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

…are the luckiest people…in the world. Indeed, they are. “People” is one of my all-time favourite songs by one of my all-time favourite singers, Barbra Streisand. Who do you think accompanied me tonight as I glued myself to the TV (one of those rare occasions where I have time for such luxury) to watch Barbra Streisand’s 1967 Central Park performance…?  Pole seems to share my taste of music…  No more hunger and thirst But first be a person who needs ...

The Poor Baby Alligator/crocodile
26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/01/26/updates-o n-the-baby-alligator-nandhinis/ Nandhini says the Wildlife Dept informed her that that restaurant owner has the license to keep the baby crocodile. Now, that is sad. The poor thing belongs in the wild. Updates at 9.00am (27th Jan) – Have just checked. If the Wildlife Dept says “ok”, there is no higher authority to appeal to when it comes to wild animals.

A New Cat On The Block?
26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

We’ve been having many human as well as cat visitors ever since we moved in. Well, there are Mr Gorilla, Shadow, a ginger cat (good friends with Mr Gorilla) and the Snow White Sisters (an adult version of the Blueys). Today, we had another visitor….  It looks like a bluepoint and it’s a female. The poor little kitty was mewing quite a bit. I put some Go! kibbles out for her but she did not eat any, just kept mewing and mewing, trying to tell me something. Her voice was also v...

Indy And Bobby’s Acupuncture
26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Today, Dr Susanna came over for Indy and Bobby’s acupuncture. Indy is still anaemic (from the paleness of the mucus membrane), but Dr S said the animal’s clinical condition is a better gauge than anything else, so since Indy appears to be fine, it should not be a cause for grave or immediate concern or worry. Indy has been behaving very normally and very “Indy-ly” ever since the last treatment. It was like an immediate total recovery for him. But this time, we are not ta...

Do You Dry-Pill Your Animal?
26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

That means, do you, like me, force-feed your animal a pill or capsule without giving it liquids? If you do, you may wish to read this: http://catinfo.org/?link=pillingcats ItR 17;s from Dr Susanna. I think it makes a lot of sense. Just thinking about how painful it is for us to swallow a pill dry, I already feel the pain in my throat!  It also causes possible abrasions to the animals’ esophagus. The link offers alternatives.

26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Dear all, Some of you have written to me asking if the Sunsuper Dreams Contest is a scam. As far as I know, it is NOT a scam. HOPE was nominated in September and it won. Updates On Cucu, Rehomed Elderly Cat
26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

My cousin, Lilian, asked for help in rehoming her domestic helper’s cat when the latter went back to the Philippines way back in August 2009. Lilian has 4 dogs and her helper looked after this cat, called Cucu. After the helper left, there was no one to look after Cucu anymore and Lilian wanted a better home for Cucu. So, I blogged and around September 2009, we found a home for Cucu. Cucu was already at least 7 years old at that time. But being possibly of some breed (or cross-bred), there...

Pole News For The Day
26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

This morning, Pole made no attempt at all to get up on the gutter-ledge. Has she already conceded defeat?? Instead, today’s mission is to “gazelle” over the cat-grille, to explore the rest of the house.  It looks like she only wanted to explore the rest of the house, so she went upstairs and downstairs, on a self-guided tour. After about half an hour, she started calling (for help?) from the foyer. I carried her back into Bunny’s Room only to have her gazelle over the ...

Appeals And Requests From Rescuers
26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Please be informed that when you write in to me (which means, to AnimalCare), your appeals and requests will be published verbatim. This is stated very clearly in our policies. We hope you will not reveal the names of clinics, vets and individuals who might not like their identities to be made public. The same goes for locations as well. Please be discerning too, if you send photographs and if need be, kindly edit and crop the photographs if individuals’ photos and locations need to be kep...

"Hi SPCA, I'm Bernice and my precious dog is lost. I asked my uncle to help me to take care of him but my uncle's house was robbed. My dog was lost since then. I'm not sure if the thief took him or he ran away by himself. He is last seen somewhere in tambun during November'11. I'm sorry my parents just broke the news to me few days ago because I was doing my SPM and they dont want me to get distracted. Please help me get my dog back. He completes me and I cannot imagine me with...

A Bird Story
26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Yesterday, a friend called me with an S.O.S.  His friend had just rescued a bird (didn’t say which type) off the street and was looking for a vet to treat it. Unfortunately, the vets he went to could not treat the bird (this is true because most vets do not have the proper medication for treating birds). So this friend asked for advice. His friend also wanted to get an adopter for the bird, so I presume the bird can’t be the ordinary sparrow, mynah or crow. I made a few phonecalls a...

Updates On The Baby Alligator (Nandhini’s)
26th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/01/24/baby-alli gator-found-in-small-aquarium-at-restaurant/ Nandh ini has been updating me on the progress of this case. Today, she checked with the Wildlife Department and apparently, the Deputy confirmed that his people have left for the restaurant now. Nandhini will call back in the afternoon for updates. Hopefully, the Wildlife officers will rescue the poor alligator and release it back to its natural habitat in the wild.
