MEET THE BEAUTIFUL "DTON KHAO" - SHE WANTS TO PLAY BALL! This young beauty is just 18 months old. She's a favouite with our staff & volunteers as she's very friendly & loves to play ball. She can often be seen fetching the ball with her carer "Khun Dow" outside her run. She came to us after an accident & was abandoned by her owner. She's been at the shelter since July last year & we'd really like to find her a home.

Our New Product (a Misai Kucing Drink) 4th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Here’s our new product for fund-raising!
This product is prepared by my friend, Joseph Foo. He plants the Misai Kucing (“Cats’ Whiskers”) himself so it’s very natural. The drink contains only three ingredients: Misai Kucing, Stevia leaves and lemon.
Almost everyone who comes to my house and drinks it, has gone home bringing a box with them! No, I don’t sell it, I give it to them (from what I have in my kitchen). They say it’s about the nicest an...

Well, what do you know? Andrea writes again, and isn’t it just so coincidental that little Andrea just rescued a neighbourhood dog!!
Really?

A First-Time Rescuer In The Making 3rd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
A young lady, Shalin, called me last night. Shalin knows me as she belongs to the Buddhist youth group whose camps I’ve conducted before.
Shalin picked up a little kitten last night (her very first time) and she did not quite know what to do. The kitten was just lying down and could not walk. Being a first timer, Shalin did not know anything about looking after kittens at all. So I told her the basics – giving glucose water (it was far too late to get kitten milk), no commercial milk...

A Turtle Story 3rd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
This morning, a lady by the name of Elisabeth called me. Apparently, a turtle (not a tortoise, but a turtle) had crawled into her apartment.
She asked her neighbours and no one claimed ownership of the little reptile though she said someone nearby did keep tortoises.
When she called me, she had put the turtle in a bathtub.
I suggested surrendering the turtle to Zoo Negara, but she said she’d prefer putting the turtle in a temple pond or something like that.
Images of Penang’s Air Ita...

Slash Victim 3rd Feb 2012, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
This dog was found wandering with a massive slash wound on its back. Apparently according to people in the area the dog was slashed by some drunks loitering there. Once at the vet, it was discovered that the dog also suffered from some kind of an infection in either its womb or ovaries as there was blood and puss coming from its vagina. Sadly, there was a male dog with this female but was too fierce to be handled. So, he had to be left behind. According to the vet the slash wound, which w...

New Accident Victim 3rd Feb 2012, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
Someone called us to say that he had spotted a dog that was lying still without moving at a residential estate near Subang Airport. We asked for his help to send the dog to the vet and the diagnosis is that both the dogs front paws are fractured. One of the affected limb has severe nerve damage and will have to probably be amputated once the dog has recuperated. We hope that some kind soul will come forward to adopt the young dog once its veterinary issues have been settled. We are urgent...

Amputated and castrated. This Shih Tzu was rescued by Zainab and it had a severe injury to the tail. We arranged for the dog's admission at our panel clinic and the vets decided to amputate the tail. Dog With Bad Fracture 3rd Feb 2012, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
Mei Yee told us about a dog she wanted to rescue which had suffered a severe fracture. We told her to do the necessary and that we would raise the funds for the dog's veterinary care. The dog Mocha has undergone surgery and is on the road to recovery - the total cost has come up to about RM2,500. We would be grateful for sponsorship of this dog. We would also like to thank Mei Yee who from the first day had taken the initiative to do as much as possible whenever she had spotted a dog in n...

it? bcz that cat is to scare n always run.
I’ve replied to let Aida know that we are not rescuers and cannot help in that area. This poor cat looks very sick. I’m not a vet, but it looks like sporotrichosis or it is a very bad wound that needs immediate medical attention.
I have advised Aida to take the cat to a vet and get it treated. We have offered our medical subsidy. B...

Sick Cat In Need Of Help (Ms Mak’s) 3rd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
From:
Ms. Mak
girli29@hotmail.com
Message:
Hi,
We have this stray cat that we have been feeding for quite a while now
but it didn’t come home for a couple of weeks. Last week, the cat
finally came home, in bad condition. It’s very skinny now
(previously it was normal size, healthy) and very bonny. The worst
part is that it lost its ‘voice’ and smells really bad. The odor
is that of a dead rat or something rotten. We have been feeding it but
from our observation, it seems to have trouble ...
