Habitat destruction caused by illegal and destructive fishing methods, such as fish bombing, reduces the chances of coral reefs to survive amidst the impacts of climate change. Without healthy corals, the survival of marine life is further threatened. WWF-Malaysia works with Sabah Parks and other relevant government agencies to combat fish bombing in Tun Mustapha Park, one of the largest marine parks in Malaysia. WWF-Malaysia thanks KOSÉ Malaysia for their support. With every purchase of ‘S...

STANDING UP FOR ANIMALS Or climbing. Sometimes we swim or lay prone on our tummies. Our wildlife rescue officers do their best they can at work. Our entire team battles hard to campaign for animal protection in Singapore: for the illegal wildlife trade, for enabling policy changes at the grassroots level, to be empowered in our own capacity as a collective individual. You see, for the staff and the volunteers, it’s neither about the money nor the fame. Like you, our supporters and callers ...

First Subcut For Pole And Cleo
15th Sep 2019, by AnimalCare

After letting Pole and Cleo rest for a few hours, I decided to try the subcut for both just now. The vet had said perhaps it would be a better idea to do it tomorrow as today’s consultation took almost one-and-a-half hours, plus the waiting time. Blood was also taken and the ultrasound was done and the car trip was stressful too. Pole and Cleo hardly ever travel in the car because they almost never got sick all their lives. It was always the boys who had to go to the vet. Not the girls. So...

Cleo And Pole’s Check-Up (kidney Issues And Hyperthyroidism)
15th Sep 2019, by AnimalCare

Six months ago, their SDMA readings were both normal, but their creatinine levels were on the higher end of normal. I have also been rather worried about Cleo and Pole because I noticed both have been drinking water more than before. This is one symptom of possible kidney issues. Cleo also has been peeing more often than usual. Pole also has been rather hyperactive and sometimes, we see her leg shivering. So, we took both of them (with Ginger) to the vet’s today. Cleo weighed 3.7kg today (...

Ginger’s Check-Up At The Vet’s
15th Sep 2019, by AnimalCare

It’s been six months since Ginger’s last check up where his SDMA reading was 15 (0-14 is normal) but his creatinine was only 100 at the time so we did not start him on any treatment. Ginger’s check-up was all okay except that he has gained too much weight. He is 6.6kg now and yes, he is obese and has to lose some weight. He also has some plague, so he would need Orozyme daily. A blood test was done and surprisingly, the SDMA came down to 11 and his creatinine remained low at 95...

Bunny & Indy’s Check-Up (after 6 Months)
14th Sep 2019, by AnimalCare

It was six months ago that Bunny & Indy’s SDMA tests showed early kidney degeneration. We started on twice-weekly subcut and have maintained that since then. Three months ago, the SDMA readings went down, which was good. The subcut sessions continued. Today was their check-up after six months from diagnosis. I was a little worried a few days prior, not knowing what the test results would be like. I guess it’s been quite a journey for me. First, it was Vincent’s kidney failu...
