End-Stage Kidney Failure Cat 16th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
This afternoon, Mary and I spent some time accompanying Mary's colleague at the clinic. The colleague's cat is suffering from end-stage kidney failure. There seems to be little that allopathic medicine can do for a cat at this stage of kidney failure except to put him on drips and to force-feed.There are numerous causes of kidney failure. Too many to list down. But some of the signs would be excessive intake of water and weight loss. This cat used to be obese, but b...

HORRIFIC SATURDAY 16th Jul 2011, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
It was a horrible day today with several cases of dogs in distress. We received our first call at about 7.50 am today from a grocery store owner who said that a young dog that lingered around her area in Setapak was knocked down by a car. She said the dog was howling in pain and asked if we could collect it. We advised her to take the dog to the nearest veterinary clinic where it can be first treated and collected by us later in the day. When w called about half-an-hour later, the lady sa...

Cows Saying Hello!!! 16th Jul 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
I was walking my boyz down the campbells creek path walk and these four cows ran towards us. They were asking me for food but closely watching my dogs’s every move. Some even assumed the bull attack stance but thankfull didn’t go through the fence. They were so entertaining because they followed us for most of the walk. I even got to pat them and feed them some grass. As they always say, the grass is greener on the other side of the paddock and it trully was in this situation; they h...

Punitha, Nandhini and I must have spent a fortune on smses and phonecalls this morning, racing against time to find a fosterer or adopter for the two kittens (the ones I named "Creamie and Crackers"). A very long story cut short, Devi Narayanan responded and said she would adopt the kittens. Bless her kind heart!More phonecalls to make the connections, and finally....The kittens are now safe with Devi.Devi's text message to me:Wei Kien couple sent over the kittens around 1pm. E...

Photo Feature 16th Jul 2011, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase
We're looking for a home(s) for these three cats living outside in Central Massachusetts. They've all been spayed/neutered but are living in a backyard situation. Two of the cats are very friendly and the third is a little shy. We'd love to find them a place(s) for them to live before the next season of snow arrives. It's not necessary that they all remain together although it would be nice to have the calico remain with one of the others because she is timid. Please share and share again. ...

Urgently Required - Fosterer For Two Baby Kittens 16th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
I blogged this two days ago, but we have not been able to find any fosterer or adopter for these baby kittens. The rescuer, Wei Kien, only has until today after which he plans to surrender the kittens to the shelter where there is a strong possibility they would be put down because they are still too young. These kittens were rescued by Wei Kien from a monsoon drain three days ago and a neighbour is helping to foster, but only up to today. If you can help, please contact...

The Beauty Of Working Together (another Incredible Rescue Story) 15th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
This morning, Roselin was so happy, she texted me to say Koo and his wife had successfully helped her (and friend, Masumi) to catch the last of the puppy from the Section 17 colony. "Koo and his wife are an amazing team", texted Roselin.Yes, don't we know? Koo has volunteered to help catch so many dogs now. The puppy, Jazz, was sent to our vet this morning, and has already been spayed under our sponsorship. Jazz is back with Roselin now. Here's an account from...

Kangaroos Down Under… 15th Jul 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
I can still recall the excitement I felt at seeing my first kangaroo in Australia. It was at a wildlife park in Perth. Even today, after seeing heaps and heaps of kangaroos, I am still in awe of these magnificent creatures. However, one of the most beautiful moments I experienced first hand was at an alpaca stud. The picture I captured below speaks for itself.
If you live in Australia and have not witnessed a kangaroo in action, whether jumping over a fence or hopping across a paddock, then you...

Lulu, Female Cat For Adoption 15th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
From Julie Pek:This is Malu @ Lu Lu. She was the 9th cat that was caught and spayed/neutered.One person was supposed to come and collect and put in safe sanctuary (after beingpaid the fees) but did not turn up.Lulu was left at the clinic for 2 weeks in the cage. After many phone calls and yet no sign of the person, I decided to bring Lu Lu back. She was very terrified cat. The time we caught her, she was the fiercest and unfriendly cat before spay. In my place, she hides here...

Mrs Lim's Male Cat Neutered 15th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Amy Tham was supposed to help Mrs Lim catch a female cat for spaying, but they landed up with a male cat instead because the female got away! So, anyway, they brought the male to be neutered this morning. Apparently, some of the stray cats had been poisoned in their apartment area, and this is really sad. All the more urgent to control the population. Neutered, brought home, and already eating! One male cat neutered, and SO many (hundreds!) unwanted births and untold suffering ha...

Kindness To Animal In Religions 15th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
When you have time this weekend, take some time and browse through this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boNjag7NP7oI found it so inspiring that across the major religions in the world, one thing is common - cherish all life and be kind to animals. And most religions teach that we ought be kinder to animals because they are helpless and innocent. They need us to protect them. And even if one day all religions disappear from the face of the earth and only KINDNESS remains, I think...
