A Thank You Just Received.... 14th Jul 2011, by SPCA Penang
Dear Sirs, I have wanted to congratulate the organisers, helpers and volunteers and officials of the recent SPCA run on 29.5.2011. Although I had just returned from an overseas trip and was exhausted, I made it a point that I would run this race because I believe in the cause and because I had made many of my friends join the race as well (and it was to encourage each other that we would run and finish the race)!! In particular I want to say kudos to the bicycling team who assisted in the roa...

Peggy Tiong looks after the stray cats in around her house. Some of the strays even bring their families to her house to seek shelter. Today, she brought two blue kittens for a check-up and vaccination. One of the kittens was having some limping problem yesterday. This is the limping one, but he seems better today. Still walks with a bit of a hunch, though. Being vaccinated. Peggy says she'd rather not look....They are brother and sister, and are up for ad...

If You Have A Problem With Cats.... 14th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Someone left a comment asking how to deal with a neighbour's cats who are causing a lot of trouble for her. She has spoken to the neighbour but to no avail. She doesn't want to report to the authorities knowing that the authorities would just capture and kill.I truly empathise with her. Here's a leaflet from the Cat Welfare Society, Singapore. They have given me permission to use it freely. On the left side is what to use if you DON'T like cats. On the right is how to attract cats int...

UPDATE: When Kindness Can Become A Weakness 14th Jul 2011, by Noah's Ark CARES
It has been more than about half a month since we first publicized this case, and we are grateful for the numerous friends and supporters who wrote in to offer assistance and advice. This story received some media coverage too, with The New Paper and U-Weekly both running an article on the Ng brothers and their cats, and The Online Citizen sharing it on their page. Noah’s Ark is grateful towards these few organizations in their bid to help spread the word. We visited the brothers about thr...

Photo Feature 14th Jul 2011, by SPCA Seberang Perai
This puppy was saved just in time before he was slaughter by some Vietnamese workers. Rescuer, April reported that there were even ginger and herbs ready to prepare the dog meat pot. As April is already fostering more pets than she can handle, she hope that someone will be kind enough to adopt this puppy and give him a 2nd chance.
If you are interested to adopt this lil' pup, kindly contact April at 012-4708308.

Tango, Stray Puppy, Spayed 14th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Tango is one of the many stray dogs/puppies fed by Roselin at a construction site in Section 17, PJ. Roselin has gone through great lengths to rescue many of these dogs, and right now, she is still fostering Ms J, Molly and Tyra (it is so hard to find homes for adult street dogs). John Wayne is another foster of Roselin's and apparently, he bit Roselin sometime last week. It is no easy task for Roselin, managing dogs AND cats on a daily basis as sometimes fights would break out...

Another Great Rescue...by Koo! 13th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
You know, not only does Koo do great rescue work, he also writes fantastically-detailed accounts which needs no editing at all. Aunty Jenny is a dog-feeder in Ara Damansara, and she called me last week asking for help to spay-neuter some dogs and to rehome some puppies. There was, apparently, this dog who was so elusive and was very difficult to catch. She needed help.Well, who else did I know but Koo, right? So, I asked Koo if he could help.Koo obliged. Here's the account...

The Cow And Mr Squirrel 13th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Mr Squirrel (the tree shrew) has been frequenting my room these days, and I did wonder why. In the past two days, he even brought his friend along. It was quite a relief to me because I had not seen his friend for a long time ever since the renovation work started at the back. I'm glad his friend is safe. It is not easy to take photos of Mr Squirrel, so this is a real treat. Hi, Mr Squirrel! Er...what are you up to? (Sometimes humans are so stupid.......

Who Would Do A Thing Like This? (Animal Bombs) 13th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Huey sent this: http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?f ile=/2011/7/13/north/9092295&sec=NorthI'm quite lost for words. WHO would have so much time to do a thing like this? Seems like a case of mischief, but at the expense of using animals, which is exploitation. Seems like the work of a real pest. You know, aeons ago, humans lived quite harmoniously (meaning, by the laws of nature) with the animals in the jungle. Then, humans became "civilised", created vi...

Karuna is doing very well. The vets have even been taking her for walks! She just has this sad look, but the vets say she is not sad. Karuna, you always look the same in all the photos, can we have, perhaps, a different pose today? Okay...that's a different pose...thank you.Tried as I did, she wasn't really interested much in moving around. Maybe I always visit during nap time! But the vet says she walks well and is healing very well.Karuna is up for adopt...

Mama-Cat's Faucitis Massively Improved! 13th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Amy Tham also brought the Mama-Cat for a check-up today. This Mama-Cat had been treated for Faucitis on 20th June. Ref: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/0 6/cat-with-faucitis.html Here's Mama."Wow!! Massive improvement!"We're really glad Mama-Cat's condition has improved so much. Our initial worry was that she could be FIV+ or suffering from leukemia, which would cause her not to heal well. We still do not know if she could be FIV+ or have leukemia, but th...
